From the door to payroll.
A face terminal at the door, a small agent on a PC at the site, and TimeSpark online. Here's what each part does, and what happens when things go wrong.
Three parts, one journey.
Clock in at the door
A face terminal recognises each person in under a second. No cards to lose or lend.
The site agent sends it up
A small service on a PC at the site collects every clocking and sends it to TimeSpark. If the internet drops, it holds on to them.
Everything's in TimeSpark
Who's in right now, holiday, the wallchart, and timesheets ready for payroll, on any browser or phone.
Clockings are arriving as people come through the door.
At the door
Hikvision face-recognition terminals, managed from TimeSpark. Nobody has to stand at the device with a laptop.
- Recognised in under a secondFace, fingerprint and card are all recorded, so there's a way in for everyone.
- A photo of every clockingKept for 30 days and visible to managers, so a disputed clocking can be settled by looking.
- Enrol from TimeSparkAdd someone to a terminal from their employee page, and their photo goes to the device.
- Leavers removed automaticallyArchiving someone takes their face off every door.
- Take over terminals you already havePeople already on a device are matched up, not enrolled all over again.
- No cards to swapA card or a PIN can be lent to a friend. A face can't.
At the site
The site agent is the part that makes TimeSpark work on real sites, with real broadband.
- Any Windows PCA small Windows service. A PC that's already at the site will usually do.
- Talks to the terminals locallyOn the site's own network, so clocking carries on whatever the internet is doing.
- Outbound onlyIt reaches TimeSpark over ordinary HTTPS, the same as a web browser. No firewall changes, no VPN.
- Nothing is lostEvery clocking is stored on the PC until TimeSpark confirms it has it. We test this by unplugging the broadband.
- Picks up where it left offAfter a restart or a power cut, it carries on from exactly the last clocking it sent.
- One agent per siteEach site talks to TimeSpark on its own, so your sites don't need to be connected to each other.
In TimeSpark
Everything arrives in one place, for every site, on any browser or phone.
- Today, liveAt work, late in, booked off and not accounted for, with faces.
- TimesheetsWorked out from the clockings, with the workings shown for every day.
- Holiday and the wallchartBook, approve and see everyone's leave and rota together.
- Ready for payrollHours, overtime, leave and every correction, exported in one go.
For your IT people
The questions they usually ask first.
- Do we need to open any ports?
- No. The agent only makes outbound HTTPS connections, like a web browser. Nothing on your network accepts connections from outside.
- Do we need a VPN between sites?
- No. Each site has its own agent, and each one talks to TimeSpark directly.
- What does the PC need?
- Windows, power, and a network connection that reaches both the terminals and the internet.
- What happens when the internet goes down?
- The agent keeps every clocking on the PC and sends them when the connection comes back. It only lets go of a clocking once TimeSpark has confirmed it.
- What happens if the PC restarts?
- The agent runs as a Windows service, starts with the PC, and carries on from exactly where it left off.
- Where is the data kept?
- In the UK. There's more on the security and privacy page.
